About this print

  • Geometric cowboy with a wide hat, mustache and red bandana
  • Cacti, mission church, mesas and a white horse around him
  • Earthy palette of rust, mustard, olive and forest green
  • Bauhaus-inspired shapes with Southwestern roots

The Desert Watcher is a mid-century cowboy art print built from bold blocks of color. A broad-brimmed hat, a thick mustache, and a red bandana frame a steady face. His boot and silver spur sit in the foreground, and around him the desert is laid out like a mosaic: saguaro, a mission-style church, mesas, a white horse, and a round orange sun.

The shapes are flat and graphic, in the spirit of Bauhaus design, while the palette stays earthy: rust, mustard, olive, and forest green. It reads as modern and Western at once.

It looks right over a leather armchair on a cowhide rug, in a den, or in an office that needs a quiet guardian. Choose a matte print, or have it framed by hand in Phoenix in black, white, walnut, or natural wood, with or without a white mat.

Where it looks best

Questions about The Desert Watcher

What style is The Desert Watcher?

A mid-century, Bauhaus-inspired illustration: flat geometric shapes and blocks of color forming a cowboy portrait and the desert around him.

Which frame color works best?

Black with a white mat gives it a gallery look over leather furniture. Walnut leans into the rust and mustard tones for a warmer den.

Good to know

What is the difference between Print and Framed Print?

Print ships as the artwork alone on heavyweight matte stock. Framed Print arrives in your choice of black, white, walnut, or natural wood frames, ready to hang.

How long until my order ships?

Every Frontier Prints piece is made to order. Prints ship in 3 to 5 business days, framed pieces in 5 to 7.

Will the colors match my screen?

Screens differ, so expect slight shifts in color. Wood grain on walnut frames is unique to each piece.

Do framed prints have glass?

No. Framed pieces have an acrylic or styrene front, never glass. It is lighter than glass and much less likely to shatter, so it is safer to ship and to hang.

Are prints signed or numbered?

No. Prints are open edition and are not signed or numbered.
