đŒïž Can You Frame Posters Without Glass? Western Print Tips
Itâs a common question: do you have to use glass when framing a poster or print? The short answer: no. In fact, some of the best western-style displays skip it entirely.
Hereâs what to consider when deciding how to frame your Frontier Prints.
𧱠When to Skip the Glass
Glass isnât required if:
- Your print is already sealed or laminated
- You want a softer, glare-free look
- Youâre going for a rustic or matte finish
Many of our customers hang âThe Hat Hookâ or âHOWDY Dustâ prints without glass for a more casual, vintage look.
â Alternatives That Work
- No-glass frames: Let the texture of the paper show. Best in low-humidity spaces.
- Matboard with open-face: Feels archival without being shiny.
- Float mounting: Secure the print on top of the matboard with open sides.
Want more protection? Use non-glare acrylic instead of traditional glassâlightweight and shatter-resistant.
đȘ” Western Style, No Shine
Western prints look best when they feel real. Letting the texture showâwithout a reflective barrierâcan actually make the art feel more grounded and connected to your space.
If you're aiming for warmth and honesty, glass might be optional. Style, however, is not.
