About this print

  • Dark horse and pale rider in flat mid-century style
  • Long-legged silhouette with geometric blanket markings
  • Warm sand linen ground with visible weave
  • One of three matching flat-color pieces in the collection

High Plains Rider is minimalist horse wall art in a mid-century modern style. A chocolate-brown horse with a cream mane stands in profile on impossibly long legs, a pale rider in a flat wide-brimmed hat sitting upright with a coiled rope in hand. Small geometric cream markings run along the horse's flank like a woven blanket. The ground is warm sand linen with the weave showing through, and there is no shading anywhere, just flat matte color.

It is one of three flat-color pieces in our Americana collection, alongside Saguaro Cattleman and Night Herd, and the three are designed to hang together. The palette is tan, deep brown, cream and a touch of terracotta.

It suits a modern room as well as a ranch house, and works at any size from a small hallway print to a 24x36 over the bed. Choose a matte print, or have it framed by hand in Phoenix in black, white, walnut or natural wood, with or without a white mat.

Questions about High Plains Rider

Is this a good nursery print?

Yes. The flat shapes and soft tan and brown palette suit a nursery or kid's room, and it reads well at small sizes like 11x14 or 12x18.

What pairs with it?

Saguaro Cattleman and Night Herd are painted in the same flat style on terracotta and indigo grounds. The three make a set.

Good to know

What is the difference between Print and Framed Print?

Print ships as the artwork alone on heavyweight matte stock. Framed Print arrives in your choice of black, white, walnut, or natural wood frames, ready to hang.

How long until my order ships?

Every Frontier Prints piece is made to order. Prints ship in 3 to 5 business days, framed pieces in 5 to 7.

Will the colors match my screen?

Screens differ, so expect slight shifts in color. Wood grain on walnut frames is unique to each piece.

Do framed prints have glass?

No. Framed pieces have an acrylic or styrene front, never glass. It is lighter than glass and much less likely to shatter, so it is safer to ship and to hang.

Are prints signed or numbered?

No. Prints are open edition and are not signed or numbered.
