About this print

  • Cowgirl on a fence rail in a cream hat and turquoise jacket
  • Thick palette-knife texture with copper and gold flecks
  • Slate blue, ochre, cream and rust palette
  • Part of the Americana collection

Rodeo Queen's Pause is cowgirl wall art made the old way, in paint. She sits on a weathered fence rail with her legs crossed and her hands on the wood, a cream felt hat shading everything but her red lips. The turquoise western jacket with rust piping and the tan skirt are built from heavy knife strokes, and the slate-blue wall behind her is scattered with copper and gold flecks that catch the light.

It is the opening piece of our Americana collection: vintage western subjects in paint instead of photos, in a muted palette of slate blue, ochre, cream and rust that sits easily with leather, warm wood and white walls.

Hang it large over a sofa or a bed, or let it anchor a hallway. It pairs naturally with Dance Hall Cowgirl and Longhorn Portrait from the same collection. Choose a matte print, or have it framed by hand in Phoenix in black, white, walnut or natural wood, with or without a white mat.

Where it looks best

  • living room over a sofa
  • bedroom over the headboard
  • entryway
  • western gallery wall

A good gift for cowgirls, rodeo fans and anyone decorating a first apartment with some western in it.

Questions about Rodeo Queen's Pause

Is this a photo or painted art?

It is a painted piece reproduced as a print. The knife strokes and copper flecks are part of the artwork, printed flat on matte paper, so the texture shows but the surface is smooth.

Which frame color suits it?

Black sharpens the blue and turquoise for a modern room. Walnut or natural wood warms it up for a ranch house or cabin.

Good to know

What is the difference between Print and Framed Print?

Print ships as the artwork alone on heavyweight matte stock. Framed Print arrives in your choice of black, white, walnut, or natural wood frames, ready to hang.

How long until my order ships?

Every Frontier Prints piece is made to order. Prints ship in 3 to 5 business days, framed pieces in 5 to 7.

Will the colors match my screen?

Screens differ, so expect slight shifts in color. Wood grain on walnut frames is unique to each piece.

Do framed prints have glass?

No. Framed pieces have an acrylic or styrene front, never glass. It is lighter than glass and much less likely to shatter, so it is safer to ship and to hang.

Are prints signed or numbered?

No. Prints are open edition and are not signed or numbered.
