About this print
- Old steel windmill tower with broken blades
- Black and white photographic style with deep shadows
- Streaked gray sky over desert brush
- Moody tones for dark walls and leather rooms
Hollow Turn is a black and white windmill print from the far side of the ranch. A tall steel lattice tower rises out of the brush, its fan half-broken, its tail vane still pointed into the wind. A bare desert shrub crouches beside it, and the sky above is drawn in long gray streaks.
Rendered in a moody photographic style, the windmill becomes a monument, not to motion but to memory. It speaks to what remains when the work is done. It is one of the Dust & Shadow collection.
The dark, cinematic tones suit a den, a library, or a living room with deep walls and leather furniture. It looks sharp over a sofa or a sideboard. You can order the matte print, or a version framed by hand in Phoenix in black, white, walnut, or natural wood, with or without a white mat.

Yes. On olive, charcoal, or navy walls, a black frame with a white mat, as shown, makes the grayscale image stand out.
What size fits over a sofa?
A 24x36 fills the space over a standard sofa. A 20x30 works over a loveseat or a sideboard.
Good to know
What is the difference between Print and Framed Print?
Print ships as the artwork alone on heavyweight matte stock. Framed Print arrives in your choice of black, white, walnut, or natural wood frames, ready to hang.
How long until my order ships?
Every Frontier Prints piece is made to order. Prints ship in 3 to 5 business days, framed pieces in 5 to 7.
Will the colors match my screen?
Screens differ, so expect slight shifts in color. Wood grain on walnut frames is unique to each piece.
Do framed prints have glass?
No. Framed pieces have an acrylic or styrene front, never glass. It is lighter than glass and much less likely to shatter, so it is safer to ship and to hang.
Are prints signed or numbered?
No. Prints are open edition and are not signed or numbered.
